About Charity Nepal School

CHARITY NEPAL SCHOOL was established in 1998 by Mrs Renuka Dhouju Shrestha who is an experienced social worker/teacher. She holds the title of Founder-Principal at the school. Given her multiple roles, Mrs Shrestha has been severely challenged to fulfill all her duties as completely as she would like, despite help from her family, friends and a few supporters.

The school is non-profit making and is social service oriented. This means that no tuition fees or any other charges are required from its students. The school is located at Manamaiju VDC, Kathmandu .

CNS's Admission Policy

The children at the Charity School Nepal come from different parts of the country. Some children were admitted following direct contact being made with the school by social workers whereas other children were offered a place by CNS management on the basis of certain criteria: economic status (whether very poor or not), family background (whether orphaned or not), morality (whether involved in crime or not), etc. Children found to be very poor, orphaned with no relatives who could afford to help them and who are not involved in criminal activities will be selected by CNS - if their budget can cover the costs. However, the school only has the capacity to adopt fifty children.

The children at this school, many of whom lack the support of family, relatives and society; live as one big family there. Thus the school is like an orphanage. Luckily, being under the care of Charity Nepal School , the future for these children is brighter than it would have been otherwise.

What Charity Nepal School Needs

The school has an insufficiency of the most basic of items such as, desks, benches, chairs, blackboards and teaching materials such as books and pens. It also lacks sufficient buildings to house the children and classrooms in which to teach them. There is no playground for the children to relax in and play games. Some of the ‘classrooms” only have tin roofs with no walls, door or windows. Thus, in winter and during rains, the children are cold and wet without the shelter that walls and window would provide while in summer they suffering from the heat under the tin roof.

How you can help Charity Nepal School

Some of the items that the school badly needs include the following:

•  Filtered drinking water. At least ten filters for fifty-five pupils for three years

•  13 benches

•  4 chairs

•  5 blackboards -1 for each classroom.

HECAC invites individual and institutional donors to donate towards the purchase of any or all from the above list of items. Your contribution will make a big difference to the future of these children and we know that your generosity will be repaid by the joy and gratitude the children will experience. Who knows what the future holds for these little children. We do know that your donation will give them the opportunity to have good start in life with a good education in addition to good nutrition, hygiene, health, welfare in addition to environmental awareness.

What more we can do?

HECAC would also like to set up an Eco-Club at Charity Nepal School . As with the majority of schools in Nepal environmental awareness activities are not currently applied. Hence, there is great scope for this work to be carried out. The management of Charity Nepal School are very enthuastic and are ready to take the opportunity being presented to them by HECAC and its task force, in order to engage in a more environmentally friendly future.
